What We Do
Building Relationship
We recognise that trusting relationships between all stakeholders are fundamental to enabling children to engage and thrive at school. It is through relationships, that children learn to feel safe, supported, valued, and understood, in addition to building on their understanding of the world around them.
Our relational approach takes into consideration the unique strengths, needs and interests of all pupils. Using children’s interests as the basis for building relationships and connecting with others. We build relationships using trauma informed practice, recognising that a sense of belonging is key to positive mental health and success into the future.
The PACE Approach is one of the fundamental strategies we use to ensure relationships are part of our culture. We are playful, accepting, curious and empathetic.
Meaningful Inclusion
Inclusion is at the heart of what we do at Halcyon, with all pupils contributing meaningfully to the school community. Inclusion will not be tokenistic or based on neurotypical norms.
Most importantly, pupil’s voices will be heard, to ensure they are included and contributing in a way that is meaningful to them and supportive of their futures ambition.
