Digital Future

Keeping Pace With Rapid Change

Wicklewood Primary School

Our Vision

To prepare children for a digital future by equipping them with the skills to think computationally, code creatively and navigate technology ethically.

To deliver an inspiring, progressive Computing curriculum that addresses the changing demands of in-industry technology developers.

To upskill and support staff in becoming digitally literate role models for their classes.

To innovate within the AI education space, deploying new technology confidently and with a view to allow teachers and students to meet their full potential.

What We Do

Programming Purposefully

At Halcyon, Computing is a fundamental part of our curriculum from the earliest yeas. Children progress  from spotting patterns in Nursery to coding in Python by Year 6, with clear programming milestones embedded across all year groups. Our schools are each led by a dedicated Computing lead who champions creative, purposeful use of technology and supports colleagues in delivering high-quality lessons. We believe in providing access to uncompromised programming, that does not cap aspiration and ambition. Each year, our children write a Python program that runs on the International Space Station, reading its humidity or responding to colours.

Ethically Minded AI

We are proudly at the forefront of AI integration in education. As part of our vision, we are actively exploring the use of large language models (LLMs) to enhance teaching and learning - whether through intelligent curriculum support, adaptive feedback or classroom automation. We believe AI literacy to be a core part of digital citizenship and our students are taught how to think critically and ethically about its role in society. Looking ahead, we are committed to developing our own AI-based solutions to ensure high-quality, research-led teaching is manageably delivered.
