Halcyon Forest
Legacy through New Life

Our Vision
To give ever child a tangible, personal relationship with the natural world by planting and caring for their own tree.
To embed environmental responsibility and climate awareness into everyday school life through meaningful, hands-on action.
To connect learning across science, geography, art and digital technology, making sustainability a lived and visible part of the curriculum.
To create a shared, intergenerational legacy that strengthens community, biodiversity and a sense of place within our schools.
What We Do
Learning Rooted in Place
The Halcyon Forest is designed to grow with our pupils. By planting trees on school grounds, children can return to their tree year after year - observing change, recording growth and reflecting on long-term impact. Not only does this embed curriculum objectives around scientific enquiry, geographical placement and observational skill, it reinforces the idea that small, individual action can contribute to wider environmental change.

Digital Mapping and Longitudinal Learning
A dedicated tree-tracking application is being actively developed in partnership with ArcGIS for Schools. Using digital mapping and longitudinal tracking tools, pupils will be able to locate, record and revisit their own trees over time, documenting growth, seasonal change and environmental conditions. In this way, outdoor learning blends with digital literacy, showing children that technology can be used purposefully to understand and protect the world around them.
Community, Partnership and Stewardship
The project is built on collaboration. Working with local councils, environmental organisations and volunteers, the Halcyon Forest brings together pupils, staff, families and partners around a shared purpose. These partnerships model civic responsibility and demonstrate how communities can work collectively to care for shared spaces.
