Play
‘The right to play is a child’s first claim on the community. Play is nature’s training for life. No community can infringe that right without doing deep and enduring harm to the minds and bodies of its citizens’.
David Lloyd George
At Halcyon, play is a vital part of our school community and infrastructure. Our pupils are fully involved in designing their own play spaces—from consultation and planning through to construction—working alongside professionals to bring their visions to life. With support from a dedicated governor and leadership that actively engages with regional, national and global networks, we ensure that play remains a strategic priority. Our evolving environments promote a rich variety of play, including epistemic, ludic, and rule-based, offering children meaningful opportunities to explore, imagine and collaborate. Visitors to our schools will find high-quality play spaces and children eager to share their ideas and ambitions.
